Join us for the premiere of the exhibit "You Are From Where You Grow." All are welcome to come see the exhibit any time between 6-8 PM on Friday, September 19th.
"You Are From Where You Grow" is an exhibit that illuminates the experiences of our immigrant neighbors. This collection highlights people who have shared their stories as community members of Grand Island, Nebraska. The inspiration for this project started when local immigrant photographer Lazaro Mira decided to combat feelings of depression and isolation by using his art to show himself and other immigrants that they are not alone.
Amplify and Stuhr Museum collaborated with Lazaro to collect photos and stories from him and eight other immigrants living in Grand Island in 2024. The quotes displayed throughout provide a glimpse at the human emotions connected to each person's photo and their unique story. Whether your story looks similar or different…
